If you've seen our new flyers (beautifully designed by Split again) you'll already know that we've started to confirm some of the film showing at the festival in February. Over the next few weeks we'll be adding more details to the films page. So far we've announced:

Audience Award Winner

We've counted your votes and are pleased to announce that the 2015 Audience Award goes to Come As You Are, followed by One Crazy Ride then Radiator. Lots of people also commented on how much they had enjoyed the opening film The Dark Horse too.

Osprey Winners

More than a hundred people came to The Alhambra to watch the Osprey Short Films this afternoon. The winner of the the young category was Matthew Wood's Perception. The judges and audience agreed and A Bit More Sleep by True Productions won the prize in the open category and the audience award. Congratulations to all the film-makers and thanks to everybody who came and made it a great event.

Saturday at the Festival

We'll be showing films for more than 12 hours today, starting with Into The Woods and Camp 14 at 10am and finishing in the early hours of Sunday morning with The Babadook. In between we also have seven locally made short films up for the Osprey Short Film Awards, the Lancaster Millennium Choir and Tarzan and two films on the big screen at Rheged.

16th Keswick Film Festival Starts Tonight

Join us at the Alhambra from 6:30pm for some drinks and nibbles before our first film, The Dark Horse at 7:30pm. The rest of the festival features nearly 30 films which between them have been nominated for 367 awards and won 197 times. Here's a selection of trailers to whet your appetite.

John Hurt's Patron's Pick: Big Eyes - Sunday 1:30pm The Alhambra

Unfortunately John Hurt can't make to Keswick this year so we asked if he'd like to choose a film to show at the festival. He's selected Big Eyes, a Tim Burton film that he feels has been unkindly reviewed and is keen to promote. John will be introducing it briefly via video from Serbia where he is currently working.

Big Eyes tells the outrageous true story of one of the most epic art frauds in history. In the 1960s, painter Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) had reached success beyond belief, revolutionizing the commercialization of popular art with enigmatic paintings of waifs with big eyes. The bizarre and shocking truth would eventually be discovered: Walter’s works were actually created by his wife Margaret (Amy Adams). The Keanes, it seemed, had been living a colossal lie that had fooled the entire world.

Lancaster Millennium Choir

Have you ever seen a choir sing to a film? Now's your chance with this unique take on Tarzan from our friends from Lancaster. After thrilling us with Frankenstein and returning with Crazy Walks with Wagner we are delighted that the Millennium Choir, under Musical Director Andy Whitfield, are back with their very own take on the original King of the Swingers.

Frankenstein Sings- 2011

Lancaster Millennium Choir are a community choir for "singers, neophytes or old hands, aged 11 to 111". Their repertoire includes original works covering topics such as children's rights, autism and pregnancy, interspersed with new arrangements of more well known tunes: Dr Who, the Lone Ranger, the Kinks, and even some Handel.

An Interview With Gemma Jones

We are delighted to welcome Gemma Jones (Marvellous, Bridget Jones, Sense and Sensibility) to Keswick along with her Radiator co-star Richard Johnson and director Tom Browne. We sent Sara Teresa to talk to her about Radiator, the Lake District and Jones' roles in Harry Potter and the infamous The Devils.

The Lake - A Short Film Made at KFF15

Last year, at the festival, students from Carlisle College collaborated with our guests Charlie Cattrall and Dame Janet Suzman to make a short film called The Lake which can be viewed online:

Festival Programme Online

The programme for the 16th Keswick Film Festival is now available on our website. There are still a few additions to be made but the majority of the details are now available so you can start planning your weekend.

Two recent additions to the films are Volchok, a film from Russia that we have been trying to get since David saw it 5 years ago, and Difret, from Ethiopia. Both of these are rare screenings for the UK and both award winners in international festivals. Difret is only the fourth film from Ethiopia shot on 35mm and won awards at Berlin and Sundance Festivals.

Once again we've teamed up with Stagecoach to offer discounted travel to those with a pass or ticket on the days of the Festival as follows:-
